THE ROLE

My client is now seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor in the Building Construction industry who speaks both English and German (B2 level) to join my client in Germany. You will work from their office in Dusseldorf with travel in Germany as required.

You are likely to have a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Economics or similar construction related degree and have somewhere in the region of three or more years experience as a quantity surveyor with a firm of consultant / PQS or possibly with a developer or main contractor.

You will do both pre contract and post contract work so a background in private practice quantity surveying or client side is preferred.

Projects will be varied and include buildings across a number of sectors including hotels, retail, residential and similar for new build, extension, refurbishment etc.

Good experience in cost management for construction projects is essential.

My client is a successful and friendly firm of construction consultants providing both cost management and project management services in Germany and further afield.

They provide both cost management and project management services.

They have been established in Germany for over 30 years and also work across the rest of Europe and the UK.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager, with good English and German at B2 or C1 level minimum.

You will need to have a Degree or Diploma in a Construction / Built environment subject and have good experience of quantity surveying and cost management experience ideally with both pre and post contract experience.

You should have around three years or more experience working for a firm of PQS as a Quantity Surveyor and you may be working towards becoming chartered with the RICS or already be chartered. Support will be given for those working towards chartered status.

You should have experience of cost control and cost management of projects from inception to delivery.

You will need experience of projects from feasibility studies right through all projects stages to include project delivery and final accounts.

You may not have worked in Germany previously but German at B2 is essential. You should be able to read and reasonably understand a German contract in German.

Salary is in the region of Euro 50000 to 70000 per annum.
