THE ROLE
I am seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a new role in the Building Construction to join a Design & Build firm working on high end residential projects doing extensions and refurbishments.
My client has decided to have an in-house Quantity Surveyor having previously gone outside of the company for all QS requirements so this is a great opportunity for someone ambitious to make a mark within this firm.
You are likely to have a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or other construction / built environment subject with around six years or more quantity surveying and cost management experience.
Ideally you will have worked for another Design & Build company on similar projects i.e. residential extensions and refurbishments.
You will work on cost plans, cost estimates, contract administration, valuations and variations.
You will work on several projects concurrently generally valued from around £150K to £2m.
You will work closely with clients and contractors so you must have excellent communication skills.
As the sole in-house Quantity Surveyor you must be able to work without supervision.
THE COMPANY
My client is a successful firm specialising in Design & Build residential extensions and refurbishments with in-house architects, project managers, interior designers etc.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be a Quantity Surveyor with a stable work record.
You should be highly ambitious to join a firm where you are valued and able to grow the role with the firm.
You will need to have a Degree or Diploma or similar in a Construction / Built environment subject and have good previous quantity surveying experience.
You should have experience of estimating with proven ability to take off from the drawings and site visits to establish a full scope of works and be able to prive it accordingly, referring to accepted rates and some subcontractor quotations.
You must have good knowledge of JCT contracts and proven experience of Contract Administration to be able to negotiate the contract etc with the client and deal with related subcontractor contracts.
You must have proven experience of conducting valuations and pricing variations.
You will also need experience of preparing cost plans preparing these for clients at planning drawing stage and be able to develop into a full quote as the scheme develops and feed into the design process at early stages to value engineer the design as the project moves along.
You will work closely with the in-house architects and project managers.
You should have gained experience as a Quantity Surveyor having worked either for a main contractor or with a Design & Build firm.

Salary will be from £60000 to £70000 plus good bonus based on your performance, car and pension.
